Student visa changes for Masters by Coursework students

Client summary

From 1 July 2004 the Masters by Coursework qualification becomes part of the Higher Education sector for new student visa applications. It is no longer part of the Postgraduate Research sector.

Technical details

Additional information:

Clients who apply on or after 1 July 2004 for a student visa to undertake a Masters by Coursework as their main course will be assessed against the requirements of the Higher Education sector visa (subclass 573).

 

Transitional arrangements: Student visa applicants who lodge on or after 1 July 2004 to undertake a Masters by Coursework will be subject to Higher Education sector (subclass 573) visa requirements.

 

Visa applications received before 1 July 2004 will be assessed against the requirements of the Postgraduate Research sector (subclass 574).
