Foundation studies
courses provide the knowledge and skills needed to gain admission
into an university undergraduate course if your academic background does
not meet the academic requirements. These courses were developed
especially to prepare international students for university undergraduate
studies and are of one year duration. The courses are divided into steams
of study (business or science). There are no end of course formal
examinations involved rather students are assessment throughout the period
of study.

Vocational institutions are closely linked with industry, hence the
focus is on the acquisition of practical experience & Training and
skills required. Vocational education and training is provided at
Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes, which are government

University is the highest level of study in Australia. There are 37
public (government funded) universities and two private universities in
Australia. All Australian universities are unique and students need to
find the one that best suits their academic needs.

Degree - basic level for most professions, 3-4 years. Many
universities also offer Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas.

Certificate - intensive programs of study, building on an
undergraduate degree, 6 months

Degree - also known as a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy), Specialist area
of original study, 3-4 years
